Moreover, the newly constructed 10-meter-wide upper bridge (south) at Malad station has been opened for the passengers.

According to a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Mr Sumit Thakur, this new FOB is 49.50 meters long, 10 meters wide and has three spans. This FOB has been constructed at a cost of about ₹4 crores.

Moreover, work on this new FOB was started after dismantling the old FOB. The newly constructed FOB at the southern end will be quite convenient for passengers, as it connects the eastern end of the station with platforms 1, 2 and 3.

The Chief Public Relations Officers further informed that the Western Railway has performed various development works in spite of the nationwide lockdown and limited manpower due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. However, despite such challenging conditions, the Western Railways has ensured that its development works were not hampered.

As a result of these efforts, the work has been completed within the stipulated target date. During this lockdown period, 14 new pedestrian overpasses and a new skywalk had been installed on the suburban section of the Western Railway. Construction of other pedestrian upper bridges at various places, repair of road upper bridges and installation of new escalators are also in progress.
