Quarantine or Your Own Time

Quarantine or Your Own Time
SHARES

We often complain about not having enough time. Time to think more, to prioritize things, list out our goals, and other 100 things that we want to achieve. We are so busy in our everyday hustle that we often forget why we started the journey in the first place. Our weekends go in a dilemma – Do I want to party? Do I want to rest? Do I want to learn something? Or Should I just be!

Today, we are facing a global crisis. A Pandemic. An event. An emergency, that did not just stop the world but crumbled it to the core. We are not taking death lightly anymore. We are not taking safety lightly. We are forced to think of hygiene in ways we never thought we would think anymore. More than that, we are reflecting on our choices. Our choice of – Lifestyle, Living, Social Life, Accessing our Rights, Personal Life, Relations, Politics and so on. We are more aware as a human being and of our role in society.

I’m not going to talk about how the crisis is affecting the world or how it’s taking down the world economy. I would rather look at positive factors and focus on the bright side of the situation. I would rather see it as a blessing in disguise.

We all are working towards building our dream, creating our goals. Some people are yet to figure it out maybe. But we are moving forward. While we are at it, we were moving at a pace decided by society. To match up with the standards to make an impression. We spend sleepless nights thinking about the time when it’s all over and we will be at peace.
We have stopped learning. Evolving. Unlearning. Doing things that give us the ultimate joy.

We are blessed with the time we were craving for all our life. A phase where no one is watching over you, pushing you to do something, stopping you from doing what you want, demotivating you. This is the time when we are on our own.  How do we spend this time, you may ask? But before we talk about that, let’s take some time to hibernate. To relax. To get used to this feeling. To let go of the anxiety, worry, fear and all other emotions that may stop you from doing what you absolutely love. So, what do we do?

1) Spend at least half an hour with yourself. No cellphones, No laptops. No technology. No books. Just you. (and maybe a cup of coffee)

2) Write a journal. Make a note of every single day. Remind yourself that dreams do come true. Write what you feel. Write down your goals. Mention every single thing that comes to your mind.

3) Connect with your loved ones. We often take our relations for granted. We speak about everything but things that matter the most. It’s time to share and care.

4) Read more. Book, Blogs, Poetry or anything that helps you, interests you.

5) Write letters for your loved ones. Personal touch never goes out of style. Express what and how you feel. Sometimes it’s better to say it.

6) Cook often. It’s a basic skill. You must know basic cooking skills. And when you do, you will value those who are cooking for you for all these years.

7) Practice kindness. We will eventually go back to our respective lives. But when you do, be kinder, gentler, more importantly, a human.

8) Let this period be an anchor or a pause button of your life. A phase where everything stopped. A phase which made you rethink your decisions and your life.

9) Practice mindfulness. Do some exercise, yoga. Keep your body and mind in shape.

10) Upgrade your goals/dreams. Now is the right and the best time to think about what you want to do ahead. Were you thinking small? Are there other avenues to explore? Can you go beyond?

11) Rethink about your community, people you surround yourself with, you socialize with. Your company affects/decides your personality, your character, goals, and ultimately your life. It’s a key aspect of your growth.
Remember – “Better the circle, bigger the goals, better the life”.

We are so used to hustling, running around, being busy, that suddenly sitting at home can be overwhelming and difficult. It’s alright. Relax. Breath.

It is time to do things that you absolutely love. Even if it includes lying down, doing absolutely nothing for the whole day. (Just don’t make it a habit.) Make the most out of this time.

Heal, Rejuvenate, Relax and Recharge.
