Road accidents and fatalities in Mumbai have seen a spike as of recently. Though there was a reduction in road fatalities during the COVID-19 lockdown, more accidents are reported since the state reopened the economy.

A recent report suggested that despite the restrictions, around 10,000 people had died from road accidents in 2020, indicating that a lot of work needs to go into road safety and mitigation measures.
