Ever passed by a bookstore or shelf and there was this one book cover that was too good to ignore? Something about the illustration and the catchy words along with the perfect blend of colours was so intriguing that you couldn't help but grab the book and start reading it even if the reading age on it is was 6-12 years? Girl Power: Indian Women Who Broke The Rules by Neha J Hiranandani was one such book for me.

Kudos to Niranjan Mishra for the cover design and Niloufer Wadia from the Scholastic Publication team for the great illustrations which makes this book unputdownable. The glossy sheets, small fun facts and snippets were the cherries on top along with being informative.

The book revolves around fifty awesome women, fifty awe-inspiring stories and their one defining moment. It ranged from the broad spectrum of scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, scholars, athletes and even queens. Some of which you might have seen in films or have read about it somewhere; and many unheard of. The best part about is that the personalities' stories are kept alphabetically and you can read any of them at any given point.

The personalities have been defined with perfect adjectives, for instance, Manju Devi- The Coolest Of The Coolies; Noor Khan- Spy Princess; Leila Seth- Legal Legend; Laxmi- Fashion Phoneix among others.
