Harper Collins Acquires The Rights For Jnanpith Awardee Amitav Ghosh's Next Three Books

The first of these, Jungle Nama is a verse adaptation of an episode from the Sunderbans, the legend of Bon Bibi. The second one is a collection of essays and the third one is a non-fiction book based on his research on Ibis Trilogy.

Jnanpith awardee and best known for his Ibis Trilogy, acclaimed author Amitav Ghosh is all set to publish his next three books in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Harper Collins has acquired the rights of these three upcoming books. The first of these, Jungle Nama is a verse adaptation of an episode from the Sunderbans, the legend of Bon Bibi. The second one will be a collection of essays and the third one will be a non-fiction book based on his research on Ibis Trilogy.

Jungle nama will be in an illustrated edition and the book with a collection of essays which will hit the stands on 2021 will deal with subjects ranging from history, language and storytelling. In early 2020, the non-fiction book on India-China opium trade will be released.  

Notably, the Ibis trilogy is a work of historical fiction by Amitav Ghosh. The story is set in the first half of the 19th century. It deals with the trade of opium between India and China run by the East India Company and the trafficking of coolies to Mauritius. It comprises Sea of Poppies, River of Smoke, and Flood of Fire.
