With Women’s Day, it was time to curl up with stories that pull at your heartstrings, therefore, Harper Collins India introduced bestselling author Nikita Singh’s new novel - The Reason Is you - A moving story about emotional health, heartache and second chances. The book launch was held on March 8 at Crossword, Kemps Corner.

Co-founder of Books On Toast, Anuya Jakatdar, was in conversation with the author and both of them covered a lot of ground starting with their own takes on dealing with depression, to writing about love and urban relationships, to Nikita’s journey as a ‘global nomad’ with the one constant of writing.

Describing the book Nikita said,

The Reason is You is a compelling love story that is all about raw emotions and real relationships, the book will at once move and inspire you. This is not the love of fairy tales, but a deeply honest story about real people living in the real world and exploring the boundaries of contemporary relationships including embracing bisexuality as they learn to live and love through mental and emotional turmoil.”

Setting the context further, with a peek into the plot, she said that this is a novel told from the perspective of its male protagonist. It is about being in love with someone who is struggling with depression, and how that affects the person taking on the role of a caretaker in a relationship. The narrative further explores how mental health issues still have this societal stigma attached, and how their symptoms tend to get overlooked or even dismissed.

The event being held at a bookstore proved to stir the reader inside the fans present there as after a quirky quiz with Anuya, the audience had a QA round followed by interaction and signing of their copies by Nikita.
