Siddiqui was born on May 19, 1974 in Budhana, a small town in Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, India. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui learned acting from the National School of Drama in New Delhi. After graduating in 1999, he moved to Mumbai.

He made his Bollywood debut in the year 1999 with a small role in the Aamir Khan starrer Sarfarosh. He then appeared in Ram Gopal Varma's 1999 film Shool and the 2000 film Jungle, as well as Rajkumar Hirani's Munnabhai MBBS (2003).

On the work front, he was seen in the Netflix series Raat Akeli Hai and Serious Men during the lockdown and at the beginning of the year was busy shooting for the movie Sangeen. He has catapulted himself to be a bankable name in Bollywood. Over the period of time, especially after the success of Sacred Games, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also a sort after actor in the OTT space. He has been a part of few Netflix series in the last few years and has received good feedback for the same.
