Anil Deshmukh, the Home Minister of Maharashtra, has stated that there is no need for a CBI inquiry in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Deshmukh said that he feels that Mumbai Police is 'competent enough'. This comes after Rhea Chakraborty has appealed for a CBI probe into the matter to comprehend the situation to its fullest.

The Home Minister of Maharashtra also stated that the police are investigating every aspect of the case which includes dimensions such as professional rivalry. He further added that the details of the investigation will be shared once the investigation is closed. Several fans of the actor, as well as many high profile celebrities, are demanding a CBI investigation in the matter for a month now. The demand for a CBI investigation has grown stronger with BJP MP Subramanyam Swami coming forward and asking for an enquiry. Rhea Chakraborty, the actor’s alleged girlfriend has also requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the same. Other celebrities who have been demanding a CBI inquiry over the Sushant Singh Rajput case are Shekhar Suman, Ajaz Khan, etc.

On June 14, more than a month back, Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence. His body was autopsied on the morning of June 15. According to the preliminary report, Rajput died of suffocation after being trapped by the rope. A team of three doctors performed an autopsy on the actor’s body. A preliminary report was lodged at the Bandra police station. Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Pranay Ashok had stated that no suicide note was found in the residence. The Police, therefore, have ruled out foul play and termed the death cause as 'asphyxia due to hanging', citing the post-mortem report.

However, the news of Sushant Singh Rajput has shocked the fans as well as the Hindi film industry. It has brought about conversations, sometimes unfortunate, with regards to his mental health, personal or professional life. Even after a month of his death, while his close ones mourn, it is pertinent that the rightful respect is showered on the deceased instead of baseless conjecture.
