Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood superstar is celebrating his 79th birthday on October 11, 2021. He has been active in the Hindi film industry for the past five decades and has done over 200 films, claims reports. He has also been bestowed with prestigious awards like the Dadasaheb Phalke, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. In addition to this, he has been honoured with the National Film Award thrice and the Filmfare award 16 times.

Born in Allahabad, his father was a poet and a lecturer, Bachchan’s penchant for acting developed during his school days wherein he excelled in the plays he performed in.

His presence on the small screen as well has reigned in the hearts of the audience. According to accounts, in 2015, the French government awarded him the Knight of the Legion of Honor, the highest civilian honour.

His first film was Saat Hindustani which was released on November 7, 1969, however, the film was unable to create a buzz in the box office at that time. After this he acted in Anand, Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Saudagar, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Amar Akbar Anthony, Trishul, Don, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Satte Pe Satta, Coolie, Shahenshah, Agneepath, Mohabbatein, Baghban, Black, Sarkar and many more such acclaimed films that took the industry by a storm. He continues to host the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati and remains one of the highly sought after actors.
