A few weeks back, Karan Johar introduced the new batch of students from St. Teresa, who will be competing against each other in what he calls the coveted title in the second edition of 'Student of the Year.' This sequel to his previous film includes Tiger Shroff and debutants Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.

Ananya Panday, daughter of popular Bollywood actor Chunky Panday, has already garnered her fan following. Ever since the trailer of the release, fans have been talking about her, setting big expectations from her performance in this Puneet Malhotra directorial.

In an interaction with the media, Ananya Panday shares her thought about SOTY2, stating that she was nervous a week or two back, but is excited now and waiting for everyone to watch the film. On being asked about her bonding with the debutant co-star, Tara Sutaria, she said, "Before we started shooting, people were trying to set a fight. We went to acting classes together but we got along so well on the sets. We both understood each other and felt the same, as we both were first-timers. It was a fun set, where we played pranks and enjoyed with Tiger and Punit. Not to forget, Working with Tiger was great. He is very hardworking, and I'm grateful that I got to do all this in the first film."

It is a known fact that every newcomer has a set of challenges. Talking about what she felt about this thought and what her dad taught her about the industry, Ananya added, "I did not know anything on the set. I was raw and so I tried to put forward the freshness on screen, just like Alia did. With regards to my dad, he hasn't really given me any advice because he wants me to my own thing. To be honest, what applied back then in films can't be done in today's time. So he let me explore the film my way. He wasn't there even on the set and doesn't want to interfere. But what I have learned from him is the behaviour, as he is sweet to everyone and has an interesting personality. That's how I want to be with everyone too."

Karan Johar under his banner Dharma Productions has launched many new actors. In some interviews earlier, he has stated that when he launches actors, he takes complete responsibility for mentoring them. So, whilst talking about what did the guru tell her before she began the shoot, she said, "Karan hasn't been that much of a part in the film. Initially, I was very scared of Karan, but people used to think we have a 'buddy' relationship with each other. I used to be terrified and I was scared to audition in front of him. He let us be and let us do what we felt right. To be honest, he let Punit guide us. But I'm nervous to know his reaction to the film and my performance."

Increasing popularity when you're a star kid and having a family background in films does add pressure as audience judges the artiste in a certain manner. But it seems as though, she has different plans and has thought well about how she would plan her career. "There are people out there who are talented. I have tried my best and will work hard, so I can justify their faith in me. This has been my dream and I'm grateful that I have a chance to do it. Moreover, I don't want to take away anything from my father by having any negative about me attached to him. He has worked so hard to gain respect and name. I want to be on my own and let people decide," she added while offering her take on the same.

Lastly, the conversation ended with understanding her aspirations, to which she quickly answered, "I love how Alia has grown and the audience has seen it. She has never claimed to be perfect for the start. I want the audience to see me grow too and help me reach where I want to reach."

Ananya will be seen playing Shreya Sukhadia in the film along with Tiger and Tara. Student of the Year 2 releases on May 10, 2019.
