Over the years, Parineeti Chopra has impressed many with both her acting and singing skills. With films like Ishqzaade and Golmaal Again, she made a mark at the box office too. The actress will now be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Dharma Productions' Kesari, where she plays the role of Akshay's wife, who gives him emotional support, despite not being physically present in his life.

In an interview with the media, Parineeti shared details about her character, her aspirations, work-life balance and more. Here are the excerpts:

About Kesari and the character in the film

Kesari is a story that revolves around 2 days. Just like all the battles, be it of Panipat, Kurukshetra, and others; Saragrahi is also popular and the journey and struggle need to be showcased. This is an unbelievable story of bravery, where 21 young boys who were proud of their culture and who they were.

My role hasn't been shown much in the trailer because the film revolves mostly around the men, as their story needs to be told. It is about their battle, but there is a love story beautifully mixed in the film. I play a Punjabi girl, who a Sikh guy (Akshay Kumar) meets in thoughts (as she is dead) whenever he is at the emotional point in life. Despite being a small role, I wanted to part of it from the moment I heard the story. I believe that sometimes an actor does a film because they just want to be a part of it since they love and have it as a memento in the filmography.

Thoughts on a film's success and failure after the release

The nature of this business is structured this way, where there are times when some films which the audience likes months after the release and not necessarily have an impressive box office collection. Talking about my films, I have had strong satellite successes like Meri Pyaari Bindu and Daawat-e-Ishq, which added a lot more to my career than I thought. If one looks at the other side, a film adds a lot to an actors' career, and it is not dependant on the box office collection. As actors, our job is to give content that works, and not see which medium it is loved or watched on. We plan and hope the content works as a film, but then there is something

About the professional space, she is in...

To be honest, I have really learned a lot from film failures, especially the balance between both work and personal life. I'm very happy that I'm doing the best to balance different aspects and so I travel. It is the key to happiness and I make sure I give equal and significant time to family, love life, holidays, and work. I strongly believe that it's one life we all have and I want to do everything, just to ensure that I don't want to blame my career for than having a substandard life.

What about her singing?

Singing is an important part of my life and I'm happy to have recorded a song. We wanted to release it earlier, but couldn't due to some business reasons. However, it is all good now and everything is in pipeline - we'll announce it soon. Having said this, for now, all I can say is that we have done something exciting. Also, if given a chance, I will be keen on giving my own rendition to a song from Kesari.

Aspirations and future projects

Well, I'm nowhere close to where I want to be in my career, and I have just achieved one percent of what I aspire to become. So to answer your question, I believe I'm not satisfied with what I have done and that day will hopefully come in the future. About the upcoming projects, I have some offers and I have a lot to choose from the digital space. But every time I want to do a show, a film comes my way. But I hope, we will announce something exciting soon. Besides these, I would love to be a part of (a) film(s) made on real-life stories, as I'm genuinely curious about its making and watch them whenever possible.
