Today, September 20, actress Kangana Ranaut made her appearance in the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate's court in the poet lyricist Javed Akhtar defamation case.

On Tuesday, September 14, the court had asked Kangana to mark her presence, or they will issue an arrest warrant against her.

She has filed a transfer application before the Cheif metropolitan magistrate's court, said Rizwan Siddiqui, Kangana's lawyer.

Reportedly, she has asked to reassign the case in some other court.

According to her lawyer, this decision came after she has lost her faith in the court that is hearing the matter.

As per reports, Siddiqui in the court said that a counter-complaint has been filed against Javed Akhtar by Ranaut. In the complaint, she has alleged extortion and criminal intimidation.

She has also asked for an original complaint filed by Akhtar and the counter-complaint filed by her.

Her lawyer in the court argued that even though her alleged offence is non-cognizable and bailable, the court is issuing threats to her indirectly by saying that an arrest warrant would be issued against her if she does not appear in the court.

She being present regular on each date of the hearing was not required for the alleged offence, said her lawyer.

The court has said that further hearing will take place after the transfer applications are decided. Her transfer plea will be heard on October 1 by the Chief Metropolitan magistrate's court.
