Khaali Peeli is a typical commercial potboiler from Bollywood that has all the Masala elements – emotions, flashbacks, girl meets boy, romance, song & dance routine along with slo-mo fights. Ishaan gets to play to the gallery and is the heart of the movie while Ananya comes up with a splendid performance keeping pace with him - the soul. The roller-coaster ride is fun and edgy with some interesting twists, turns that keeps the viewers hooked onto the narrative.
Pooja ( Ananya Pandey ) forcibly gets into the Kaali Peeli taxi of Blackie (Ishaan Khatter) while trying to flee from her captors who are part of the Kamathipura sex racket. They are also chased by a CBI officer Tavde ( Zakir Hussain) who mistakes Pooja to be a thief who has stolen a Jeweler. The Cat and Mouse game unfolds at a hectic pace with some brilliant cinematography that gets one hooked onto the screen. Swanand Kirkire gets to play a sinister role with elan while Satish Kaushik brings in the relief with his quirky one-liners. Despite the depressing times of the Pandemic, this colourful movie is like a stress buster with some heart-thumping music.
