Madhuri Dixit is not a part of Shiddat, confirms Karan Johar

Sridevi’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor has thanked Madhuri Dixit for stepping into her mother’s shoes for Dharma Production’s next film, as the dhak-dhak girl will now essay the character which was initially offered to Sridevi in Abhishek Varman film. Janhvi is all set to make her debut in Dhadak that is also being produced by Dharma Productions.

The actress shared a post on her Instagram saying,“Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film." Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Aditya Roy Kapur are also a part of the film.

 

Earlier there were rumours that the film Madhuri has been selected for is Shiddat, however, Karan Johar has clarified that she has been chosen for another film, the cast and other information of which will be announced soon. He tweeted saying, "Some clarifications!!! Yes...we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!"

 

The film is being made by Dharma in collaboration with Fox Star Studios and Sajid Nadiadwala. It is a period drama set in the 1940s with India-Pakistan Partition as the backdrop. The film is expected to go on floors in next year.
