Pankaj Kapur joins son Shahid Kapoor as a mentor in 'Jersey'

The film is a hindi remake of the telugu superhit with the same name. Presented by Allu Arjun, Jersey will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The shoot of the film will begin soon.

After making an announcement about his upcoming film Jersey, Shahid Kapoor is now all excited to work with a special person. As per recent announcements, his father Pankaj Kapur is the  new cast member of the upcoming film, which is the Hindi remake of a Telugu hit.

Pankaj will reportedly play mentor like figure to Shahid, in the film which will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original movie, which revolves around the protagonist named Arjun (played by Nani) and his struggles to make it big in the Indian cricket.

Talking about the same, Pankaj said, "I am very excited to be part of the film. 'Jersey' is a very strong story and is driven by emotions. Working with Shahid has always been very interesting and I have always admired his ability to portray emotions beautifully."

Sharing his excitement of working with the legendary actor, director Gowtham said, "Pankaj sir is such a great actor and we have all grown up seeing his work. To be able to direct him is a great honour and I know that he will fit perfectly for the role of a mentor in the movie."

Besides Shahid and Pankaj, the film also stars Mrunal Thakur in the lead role, and the shooting of the same will begin soon in Chandigarh. Jersey is presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Aman Gill and Dil Raju.
