On Tuesday, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan underwent a surgery after he was diagnosed with an early stage squamous cell carcinoma which is a type of cancer. Later, his son and Bollywood celebrity Hrithik Roshan stated that the surgery went well.

Hrithik took to social media and shared a photo with his dad before he underwent surgery.

"Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldn't miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family, we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him”.


After the surgery, Rakesh's brother, Rajesh provided an update to the media about his health. While talking to Mumbai Mirror Rajesh said, “He is better now and recovering well. We were all very tense about the surgery and the entire family was in the hospital with him. God willing, he will be up in the next three days and should be discharged from the hospital.”

Hrithik's emotional caption on social media received many speedy recoveries and good luck wishes from the fandoms and people from the industry. Apart from the fraternity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also prayed for the actor-turned producer's good health.

"Dear Hrithik, praying for the good health of Shri Rakesh Roshanji. He is a fighter and I am sure he will face this challenge with utmost courage”, read PM Modi’s tweet.

To which, Hrithik replied, "Thank you, sir, for your concern and good wishes. I am very happy to inform that according to the doctors, his surgery has gone off well."

Friends from the industry like Abhishek Bachchan, Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Kapoor, Aalim Hakim, Darshan Kumar, Nandish Sandhu, Dabboo Ratnani and Vishal Dadlani also wished for Rakesh Roshan’s speedy recovery.

Rakesh Roshan is known for directing films like Karan Arjun, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, 'Koi... Mil Gaya' and ‘Krrish' film series.
