The trailer of Shahid Kapoor's much-awaited film, Kabir Singh, was recently released at an event in Mumbai. Directed by Sandeep Vanga, the film is a remake of Telugu Superhit, Arjun Reddy, which starred Vijay Devarakonda in the lead role.
This is Shahid's first film this year, and he will be seen playing the titular role of Kabir Singh. The gorgeous Kiara Advani will be playing his love interest. She also expressed her happiness to have Shahid Kapoor as her co-star in this film and said that being a part of an intense love story was always on her list.
Shahid spoke to PTI about the film where he said, “The original was very raw, very honest. I don’t think there was anything in the film that was for effect. I just felt it said things as it is and was a brazen journey of a character who goes through an emotional arc which is extreme. The honesty of the film connected with the audience. Otherwise, for a film like that, there would be a limited audience. But it was loved across the board. The idea is to do it all over again. We are trying to make it as honest and as raw as it was. Not trying to change anything for the sake of it. We are rediscovering it. Of course, the way we do it, there’ll be some differences.”
The team further mentioned that the audience shouldn't take the story wrong as there is a lot of alcohol and smoking showcased in the film.
