Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has granted the exemption of tax on Ajay Devgn's recently released film "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior." The period drama, also stars Ajay Devgan in the titular role of Subedar Tanhaji Malusare.

Announcing the same, a government spokesperson said, "The film has been granted tax exemption in view of the story of the film that highlights the sacrifice and valour of Tanhaji and is an inspiration for the young generations." 

The decision was taken based on the request which was sent to CM Adityanath by Ajay Devgan. Acid attack survivors had also requested tax exemption for Meghna Gulzar's film 'Chhapaak' but a decision on the same has not been taken yet.

Chhapaak stars Deepika Padukone in the lead role ans the film also marks her first film as a producer. However, before the release, Deepika visited JNU amid the protest and rasied her voice regarding the issues, due to which it is said that the film has suffered. The film has been granted tax exemption in some states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry where Congress is in the ruling.
