In recent developments, Air India flights to and from the United Kingdom has reportedly been cancelled between April 24-30 due to the fresh restrictions imposed by the UK.

On Wednesday, April 21, the national carrier further informed on social media. "Passengers who were to travel between India and UK may note that in view of recent restrictions announced by the UK, flights from/to the UK stand cancelled from 24th to 30th April 2021,"

According to reports, Air India will soon update the passengers regarding rescheduling, refunds and waivers. It further informed that between April 24-30 this year, it will start a process to schedule flights once a week to the UK from Delhi and Mumbai.

Earlier, amidst the second wave of the coronavirus, New Zealand banned all flights from India. On April 8, the Ministry of External Affairs stated that the New Zealand government's temporary ban on travellers coming from India is due to a surge in cases of coronavirus among visitors which is likely to be lifted after April 28.

Moreover, this happens to be the first time that New Zealand has imposed a temporary ban on the entry of travellers coming from India, including its citizens. The ban, from April 11 to 28, was announced by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

The decision to ban passengers travelling from India comes after New Zealand recorded 23 new positive COVID-19 cases in managed isolation on Thursday, of which 17 came from India, according to the country's Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield.
