CNG Price Rises By Rs 2.58 Per Kg In Mumbai

The Mahanagar Gas Limited will increase CNG prices by Rs 2.58 per kg in and around Mumbai from Wednesday.

From Wednesday morning the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) will increase by Rs 2.58 per kg. Similarly, the price of domestic piped cooking gas will also witness a hike of 55 paise per unit.

Therefore, the amended prices of CNG inclusive of taxes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) stands at Rs 51.98 per kg. Whilst that of piped gas will be Rs 30.40 per unit (slab 1) and Rs 36 per unit (slab 2). For customers in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Vasai-Virar and Navi Mumbai, this is the second surge in prices of the said commodities that they have witnessed in five months. The price of CNG rose by Rs 1.50 per kg whilst that of domestic cooking gas was hiked by 95 paise per unit, earlier in February this year. 

The said hike in price has claimed to be undertaken to fractionally cover the operational costs and rise in expenditure owing to the rise in gas pipeline transportation cost.  

Post the said changes, Mahanagar Gas Limited's CNG will give alluring savings of approximately 67% and 47% in contrast to the petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai, claims official. The official also elaborated that the company's cooking gas provides 35% saving parallel to the contemporary cost of domestic LPG. The convenience, safety, reliability and environmental friendliness is incomparable, the official mentioned.
