Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) took an aggressive stance against Amazon on Friday, December 25. Following this, an FIR has been lodged against 10 MNS workers. The e-commerce website had also approached a Dindoshi court in the city after which notice was issued to the MNS president Raj Thackeray. The court has summoned Raj Thackeray to appear in the court on January 5, 2021.

Meanwhile, amidst a massive hue-and-cry over the inclusion of Marathi language in Amazon app and website by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Flipkart has allowed this as an option. The e-commerce website, Flipkart has come up with an option of Marathi as one of the preferred languages on its mobile application.

English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil were previously offered as options on Flipkart. But Marathi language was not an option. However, considering the dispute between MNS and Amazon, Flipkart has now made the Marathi language option available to the customers. Along with Marathi, Bengali language option will also be available soon.

A few months ago, many people on Twitter had demanded the option of Marathi language on Flipkart. The company had said it would start work on it soon.

Recently, MNS had written a letter to the management of Amazon requesting for including the Marathi language in Maharashtra. But the Amazon had refuted it and said that they could not add Marathi in the app or website. Later, MNS had put up posters all over Mumbai saying 'No Marathi, no Amazon'. MNS activists tore down Amazon advertisements at some bus stands and on buses in the Chembur area.

Besides, on Friday, December 25, MNS activists also vandalised Amazon offices and warehouse in Mumbai and Pune. Some activists have also been arrested in the case in Pune.
