According to sources, Mumbaikars can now avail the LPG gas and the same will reach your home in just 30 minutes, on the same day.

Earlier, it would take at least a day for the LPG to reach home. However, state-owned oil company India Oil (IOC) plans to launch Tatkal LPG Seva through which the gas cylinder will reach your home in just half an hour. Initially, this facility will be provided to one city in each state and then will be extended to other areas.

The IOC will select a city or district in each state and launch the service there. Under this service, the cylinder will be delivered in just 30 to 45 minutes however, company officials have stated that the service will start from February 1. Moreover, customers will have to pay a certain fee in order to avail of this service. There is talk of charging for Tatkal LPG or single-day delivery service.

As per reports, Indian households are permitted a maximum of 12 LPG cylinder purchases per year at subsidized rates. Cylinders have to be bought at full price at the time of purchase, and the subsidy is then credited to the customer's bank account by the government.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had earlier planned to introduce a new method to detect gas leaks, contamination or strange odours found near the eastern suburbs. This technology will be implemented with the help of the fire department, whereby inspection will be conducted with a help of a special balloon in the contaminated areas in Mumbai.
