IKEA, the Swedish home furnishing retailer, is set to open its first city store in India at Mumbai’s Worli on December 9, highlighted reports. The store is claimed to span across 80,000 sq ft that is smaller than its usual sizes of 400,000-500,000 sq ft.

Usually, its stores are situated on the city outskirts. Presently, it has two stores in India, in Hyderabad and Mumbai.

In a press release, the company stated that its city store format permits IKEA to adapt to smaller spaces in an urban context. It added that it ensures convenience for customers to experience what IKEA has to offer.

Based on accounts, the release also mentioned that customers will have the opportunity to shop all that IKEA has to offer through an integrated digital and in-person shopping experience.

According to reports, Dawid Gałka, Store Manager, IKEA Worli City store, India elaborated on how it is a novel concept for the customers shopping at IKEA. Wherein they can revel in an omnichannel shopping experience at the store. He added that customers can go through and order their complete range through means of different tools.

He remarked that the store will be able to address home furnishing through an ambit of digital measures alongside the new city store form.

IKEA’s Navi Mumbai store, on the other hand, opened on December 18. Internationally, IKEA has city stores in Paris, Shanghai, Vienna, amongst others.
