Putting an end to an executive search that lasted for nearly two months, Infosys appointed Capgemini executive Salil Parekh as the Chief Executive Officer today. His term will be effective from January 2, 2018.
Parekh, who was a member of the Group Executive Board at French IT services company Capgemini, has Master of Engineering degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys' board, said that its a delight to have Salil joining as the CEO and MD of Infosys in a filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Salil is a strong contender with a global experience of nearly three decades in the IT services industry and a powerful strong track record of executing business turnarounds and managing very successful acquisitions. The Board believes that he is the right person to lead Infosys at this time of transformation in the industry.
As per the leader of Infosys' nomination and remuneration committee, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw Parekh was the 'top choice from a pool of highly qualified candidates.
UB Pravin Rao, the present CEO of Infosys, will step down from his role and continue to as Chief Operating Officer and a whole-time Director of the Company. Rao had had replaced Vishal Sikka as interim CEO and Managing Director
