Vijay Mallya’s close aide, Bob Fernley stated that the liquor baron is devastated to have lost control of the Force India Formula One group. However, he further added that the "King of good times" still has a say in what happens next. Bob was deputy team principal until court appointed an administrator who took charge last Friday.

Bob, a British inhabitant told Reuters that Mallya would always act in the best interests of his team. He talked about Mallya’s Formula One connection in an interview at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Kingfisher owner has a stake of 42.5 per cent in the Silverstone-based team. On the other hand, Sahara Group also owns 42.5 per cent of share and the rest is owned by Michiel Mol, a Dutch businessman. Force India’s driver Sergio Perez along with engine supplier Mercedes and sponsor BWT had filed a motion to send the team into administration after a winding-up petition was filed against the team on last Wednesday.

The Mexican driver in a statement said that he was trying to just save the team and its future after a couple of members asked him to file the motion to send the team into administration. On the other hand, Bob declined any rumours of a planned coup and stated that the winding-up order could have been brought by the British tax authorities.

Mercedes team chief Toto Woff said that there are nearly five interested parties who wish to and can take over the team. However, he mentioned that the decision solely lies in the hands of administrators to decide for the team’s betterment and best long-term prospect.

Force India’s problems are clearly understandable after Mallya’s assets have been frozen in India and a case has been lodged against him to extradite him from Britain to face charges of fraud, which Mallya denies.

Recently, the ‘King of Good Times’ was allegedly said to be coming to India to contest the government’s action on him in London court and battle the charges laid on him under Fugitive Offender Ordinance.
