Mumbai: 17 residents in a housing society in Kandivali detected with COVID-19

Hitesh Mahatre, secretary of the society said that there are 125 members in the building. The management of the society takes all necessary precautions and sanitises the area regularly.

According to reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently detected 17 cases in a housing society in the Kandivali area. Of the total cases, 10 patients have recovered and seven are still recovering, two of whom are in the hospital.

The cases were reported from the Veena Geet Sangeet Gangotri Yamunotri building in the Mahavir Nagar area in Kandivali West. Later, the BMC declared the society a containment zone. Meanwhile, it has also come to light that the civic body has found five Delta Plus cases — four in its eastern part and one in its western part.

Meanwhile, the buildings where Delta Plus cases are found are also being sealed.

Slowly, cases are rising in the city and the third wave is expected to arrive in the city by next month as told by experts. People should not take COVID-19 lightly. If there is a festival, avoid gatherings. The civic body is working more on contact tracing now, said R South ward’s Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sandhya Nandedkar to mid-day.

Of the seven active cases, two are senior citizens. They are recovering well. The coronavirus cases were found in two to three families because of which cases increased in society. There have been no new cases in the past four days. Recently, tests have been conducted for 35 people and none tested positive. The infected people were vaccinated so they recovered and didn’t face problems in treatment. There were no delta Plus cases.
