In order to provide convenience to daily commuters of local trains and avoid overcrowding trains during peak hours, the Mumbai division’s Western Railways (WR) has decided to augment 26 additional services from 12-car to 15-car coaches with effect from November 21, 2022.
With this, the total number of 15-car services will increase from 106 to 132.

However, the WR's tweet faced a backlash on the micro-blogging site for their neglected approach in providing better services to Mumbai commuters. Some of them also requested to add AC local train services and convert them into 15-car train.
Besides, last month, in a welcoming news for women commuters in Mumbai local trains, the Western Railways (WR) has added 25 extra seats in ladies’ compartment in all non-air conditioned suburban local trains.
Moreover, the railways released a new timetable recently, which was implemented from October 1.
