Lumpy Skin Disease: Nearly 4,500 Animals Cured Out Of 13,425 In Maharashtra

In a slight relief, the Maharashtra Animal Husbandry department clarified that more than 4,500 animals affected with the deadly lumpy skin disease have been cured.

On Wednesday, September 21, Maharashtra State Animal Husbandry Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh informed that out of 13,425 infected animals due to Lumpy disease across the state 4,600 animals have been cured by treatment while the rest of the affected animals were being treated.

According to an official statement released by the Maharashtra government, the department exclaimed that so far 13,425 animals found as infected due to Lumpy in 1406 villages in 28 districts of state.

Moreover, 73.53 lakh vaccine quantities have been made available in various districts of the state.

Reports further stated that out of that 23.25 lakh livestock in 1,406 villages within 5 km radius of the affected area have been vaccinated free of cost and further vaccination is going on in goshalas and large cowsheds or places with large number of livestock.

On the other hand, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) also adopted precautionary measures as soon as there was an outbreak of the disease.
