The Central Government has cleared a major hurdle in the construction of the Dahisar-Bhayander Link Road (DBLR) by handing over 53.71 acres of salt pan land to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on a 99-year lease. This land is worth INR 12.9 crore.
Transfer:Key Highlights:
Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that the Union Ministry of Salt has transferred its land to the state government, allowing construction of the DBLR to move forward
Once completed, this road will significantly reduce travel time between Nariman Point and Mira-Bhayander
The land was transferred at a cost of INR 12.9 crore on a 99-year lease, as per a notification issued earlier this year by the Salt Commissioner (under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry)
Conditions of the Land
The land can only be used for the DBLR project
It cannot be transferred to any other agency for a different purpose in the future
Any legal or compensation issues related to the lease will have to be handled by the receiving agency (i.e., the state or BMC)
