916 Gastroenteritis cases recorded till April

After swine flu, the danger of gastronomical disease is increasing in the city. In April, 916 patients were admitted in hospitals. From January to April 2280 patients were victims of this disease. Those eating out on the food stalls suffer gastro problems due to the unhygienic condition. Most of the patients have been found from Kurla, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Malad, Bandra, Deonar, Dahisar, Khar West in Mumbai. 

In Kurla's L. Department 207, 97 in Chembur, 92 in Ghatkopar, 79 in Goregaon, 70 in Bandra, 48 in Borivali have been found to be suffering from this disease. Dr Padmaja Keskar, Health Officer of BMC says that the number of patients suffering from Gastro last year was 3500. This disease is caused by having contaminated food and water. BMC has launched a special campaign to overcome the disease.
