The Maharashtra Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday, August 17, inaugurated Mumbai's first EV (Electric Vehicle) charging station in the parking lot at Kohinoor building in Dadar.

Kohinoor PPL is the first public parking lot of BMC to have a charging station for electric vehicles.

Thackeray took to Twitter and said that this is very encouraging as the government moves in the direction of making Maharashtra Electric Vehicle friendly. "We had announced our state’s EV policy about a month ago. It is heartening to witness such efforts from all fronts. This is one of the many steps we as govt take for the greater good of our earth," he added.

Besides, Aaditya Thackeray also thanked Ashutosh Enterprises, MLA of Mahim Sada Sarvankar, other Local Corporators and Assistant Commissioner of G/North Kiran Dighavkar for furthering the Maharashtra government's efforts towards the EV revolution in the state.

Meanwhile, last month, Maharashtra State Industry Minister, Subhash Desai had inaugurated the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai and mentioned that the fuel price across the country is skyrocketing with every passing day and that the common man cannot afford this increase.

State Environment Minister, Aaditya Thackeray on 13 July, initiated the Maharashtra Electric Vehicles Policy through which utilization of battery-run vehicles is promoted. This is done to reduce the emissions of harmful gases. Immunity from road tax, registration charges and property tax has been given to facilitate this shift.
