Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, informed that the state government will give priority to promoting the use of electric vehicles. This decision was taken to prevent the growing pollution and possible dangers across all districts in the state.
The statement was made by Minister Pawar at the inauguration of the Fitwel Mobility's distribution service for the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa at Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Present at the occasion were Rajesh Patil, Commissioner, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Fitwel Mobility's Ravindra Kangralkar, Chaitanya Shirole, A. Shashank, Kedar, Jagdish Kadam and employees from the company.

While addressing the gathering, Minister Pawar said that Fitwel Mobility has started the distribution service of electric three-wheelers by recognizing the need of the hours and considering a better future. For the last few years, Pimpri-Chinchwad has been known as the MIDC Auto Hub and with this new service, the locality will get a new identity as a sales hub for electric vehicles.
Electric three-wheelers sold through Fitwel Mobility will be free from all these types of pollution and the firm will look at different business divisions for the passenger and freight sector. Considering the limitations of petrol, diesel, and gas in mind, experts believe that electric vehicles will prove to be good, reasonable, clean and pollution free, along with being a beneficial option for both passenger commute and freight.
Meanwhile, officials from the state government recently inaugurated India's largest electric vehicle charging station located in Navi Mumbai. Reports state that this EV charging station will be operational 24x7 and can be used for both two and four wheelers. Visitors willing to use the service can access the same through the ChargeGrid app
The state also released new policy for electric vehicles. The body managing the same called the same to have 'some ambitious targets.' The new policy is the amendment previously announced policy in 2018 and was released this year by Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Ashish Singh and state environment minister Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
