Rains cause five cars to collide at Bandra

On Wednesday, Mumbai witnessed the first of its downpours this season. The sudden showers not only caused pedestrians to be caught offguard, vehicles were thrown off gear too, apparently.

Five cars rammed into each other on the Western Express Highway within a span of minutes. On Wednesday night, an Indica car was travelling at a high speed and was on its way to Bandra at WEH. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it slipped and rammed into the barricades. When the car came to a screeching halt, four other cars who were following the Indica car, rammed into each other. Among them was an auto rickshaw, a Tavera and a tempo.

According to the traffic police, there is always a lot of traffic on WEH from Bandra to Borivali. To control the traffic, police place barricades during the day time, which are removed by evening. However, on Wednesday night, barricades were kept on another side. The heavy rains caused the accident.
