The Maharashtra government on Friday, April 18, has announced that accident victims will now be eligible for cashless treatment of up to INR 1 lakh at empanelled and other emergency hospitals.
Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar chairing a review meeting directed officials to see to it that accident victims get timely and cashless treatment up to INR 1 lakh. Meanwhile, Abitkar warned that if anyone found violating the health scheme will be held accountable and an action would be taken against the individual.

Abitkar stated that a study committee has been established to explore various enhancements to the scheme, including expanding the list of covered procedures, revising treatment rates, incorporating expensive treatments such as organ transplants, and integrating primary healthcare services.
Abitkar said since March nearly INR 1,300 crore has been disbursed to hospitals and assured that necessary funds would be released as needed.
