Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AMEL), in the press release, announced that easy payments options will now be available for their customers. This decision has come after people had raised their concerns over the increase in the electricity bills.

People will now have the option to make the payment in three installments, this facility will be available to people who choose to pay the amount in EMI within the due date. According to the guidelines of  Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC)  this facility will be available to those who have received the electricity bills double than the average amount.

"To support our esteemed consumers in the prevailing pandemic circumstances, we are happy to announce three interest-free installments to all our consumers paying their bills within the due date. We are thankful to MERC for their proactive guidance to the distribution utilities to handle the current situation. The recent tariff reduction of about 18 per cent announced by MERC effective from 01.04.2020 has yielded significant relief to the consumers, lest the bills could have caused more concern." said Kandarp Patel, MD & CEO, AMEL

People took to various social media platforms in order to intimate Adani about the increase in the bill amount that they received. People were not receiving their electricity bills due to the lockdown which was imposed because of coronavirus, but when they did it was much higher than expected.

Adani will also be offering its consumers the benefit of video calling facility for resolving their queries, help desks across the city, billing support, social awareness videos which will be explaining the billing process and 24/7 helpline numbers.

As a part of the long term solution MERC has also given the approval to AMEL for installing 7 lakh automatic meters in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, which will be worked upon soon.
