Mumbaikars Get Second Viewing Deck With Picturesque Views At Girgaon Chowpatty

On Sunday, April 17, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with his son, who is also Tourism and Environment Minister, Aaditya Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar unveiled the Girgaon Chowpatty viewing deck.

Within two months of opening a viewing deck at Dadar’s Chaitya bhoomi, the city gets its another “audience gallery” in South Mumbai.

On Sunday, April 17, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with his son, who is also Tourism and Environment Minister, Aaditya Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar unveiled the Girgaon Chowpatty viewing deck.

The Girgaon Chowpatty sea-viewing deck will give Mumbaikars and tourists picturesque views of the Arabian sea.

Taking it to Twitter, Thackeray shared: "Transforming the stormwater drain outfall, into a viewing deck to experience the mesmerising sunsets, this is an excellent example of utilization of precious unused spaces to create urban open spaces for locals & tourists. We are implementing these all over the city and suburbs."

"I’ve humbly proposed that this deck be named Shri Pramod Navalkar viewing deck, the man who transformed Girgaon Chowpatty into a clean, beautiful beach with a Nana Nani Park," he added.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said: "Cleanliness was not maintained in this corner when we travelled from the ministry to Raj Bhavan. This area remained neglected. However, Aaditya Thackeray took the initiative and managed to complete the work of this spectacular viewing deck in eight months nearly for tourists and citizens to enjoy a beautiful view.”

Moreover, CM's wife Rashmi Thackeray, MP Anil Desai, Arvind Sawant, MLA Mangalprabhat Lodha, BMC Administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal, Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Dr Sanjeev Kumar were present on the occasion.

In a similar initiative, on February 9, Aaditya Thackeray inaugurated Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Smruti viewing deck” in Dadar, which was a stormwater drain outfalls. He further stated that 40 such spots across Mumbai will be beautified so that people will have a place to sit, walk, do yoga during different times in the day.
