Voters in Mumbai have increased by 1.4 lakh to 99.5 lakh including 1.1 lakh added in the Mumbai suburban district, as well as, 25,000 in the island city.

In accordance with the latest revision in the electoral rolls, Maharashtra has added more than 17 lakh new voters, which takes the number of total electors in the state to 9.1 crores, stated accounts.

Similar to every year, a special enrolment drive was initiated in November throughout the state. By means of this, all those who turned 18 by January 1, 2022, could enrol on the voter’s list.

With the BMC elections now around the corner, accounts claim that the said data will be closely monitored by the Election Commission and political parties. While new voters can enrol throughout the year, the final electoral roll published on January 5 will now be based on the said data. Additions and deletions will be made to this.

Based on accounts, officials mentioned that more than 63,000 names were deleted after adhering to the due process. It has been reported that from the 9.1 crore voters, 4.8 crores are male and 4.4 crores are female.

On the other hand, voters in Mumbai have increased by 1.4 lakh to 99.5 lakh including 1.1 lakh added in the Mumbai suburban district, as well as, 25,000 in the island city. According to reports, Mumbai has the highest number of voters which is trailed by Thane at 84.8 lakh and Pune at 81.6 lakh.
