On Monday evening, January 3, 66 passengers on board the Mumbai-Goa Cordelia cruise tested positive for COVID-19. Out of the 2000 samples tested, these numbers of passengers were reported to be positive. 

According to narratives, a team of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will conduct screening of passengers on arrival on Tuesday, January 4, evening. The positive passengers of the cruise will be put under isolation at designated facilities.

Moreover, others will undergo RT-PCR test and will be permitted to disembark from the cruise only after their COVID-19 test results arrive. 

On Tuesday, Prajakta Ambrekar, Medical officer, BMC was quoted by news agency ANI elaborating on how from the 66, six people disembarked in Goa. Adding that the remaining 60 people have returned to Mumbai today. Ambrekar further remarked that the passengers on board the ship will undergo an RT-PCR test whose results will be out by 7 am on Wednesday, January 5.

According to reports, the BMC elucidated that those passengers who test positive will be kept under isolation on board the ship. Additionally, their samples will also be sent for genome sequencing.

On the other hand, those passengers who test negative for coronavirus will have to undergo a compulsory one week home quarantine. Similarly, the 60 positive passengers will be kept under institutional quarantine, mentioned the civic body.
