According to reports, the water supply will be hit between February 2 and 3 and there will be low pressure in K/West, K/East, H/West and H/East wards due to continual work on work on connecting two main waterways at Andheri (East).

Moreover, work has been ongoing due to valve replacing work in Chakala. The areas reportedly affected will be Bandra West and East and well as Andheri West and East.

Earlier, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) had started planning ways in order to tackle water shortage in the area to avoid any major cutbacks in the future. Accordingly, the municipal corporation had decided to cut off the water supply one day in a week in all the Panvel Municipal Corporation area. As a result, around 6,300 consumers in PMC will save water.

Dehrang Dam, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) supply water to Panvel Municipal Corporation area. Deharang Dam is owned by the municipality. Water supply from MIDC and MJP is reduced on Sundays and Mondays. Therefore, the municipality has to draw water from Deharang dam. This leads to depletion of water in the dam and severe water scarcity.

Every year, the corporation plans five months in advance and appeals to use water sparingly. Considering the remaining reserves, the municipality had decided to keep the water supply from Dehrang dam closed one day in a week.
