Byculla - As a political slugfest begins over the death of a penguin at the Veermata Jijamata Bhosale Garden aka the Mumbai zoo, animal rights bodies have jumped into the fray. On Monday, the Plant and Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) registered a complaint against the zoo authorities. Based on the complaint, a FIR under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act – 1960 has been filed in the Byculla police chowky. The complainants have demanded the closure of the zoo and asked the authorities to send the remaining seven penguins back to South Korea, says PAWS' secretary Sunish Kunj.
