The decision to build 7 thousand more kilometers of roads and bridges under the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana was taken in the cabinet meeting. The continuous follow-up of Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan will help in the development of communication in the state. The target is to build 10 thousand km of roads in Phase-2 of the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana.
It has been decided in which districts 7 thousand km long roads are to be built. Detailed project reports of 3 thousand kilometer long roads have been approved. In this background, approval has been given for research and development in this phase to enhance the quality of other 7 thousand km long roads.
In this phase, roads within 10 km from municipal corporations, sugar factories, thermal power stations, sand and gravel quarries, major rivers, industrial areas and within 5 km from municipal, town council, cantonment board limits were selected for upgrading. Bridges will be constructed at places where roads have been upgraded but there is no communication due to lack of bridges.
