Mumbai: CR's Anti-Hawkers Squad Crackdowns o­n Unlawful Activities, Recovers Fine of INR 70K

The Anti-Hawkers Squad of Central Railway (CR) has carried out a highly successful campaign from October 1 to 31, 2023 to crackdown on unlawful activities.

The Anti-Hawkers Squad of Central Railway (CR) has carried out a highly successful campaign from October 1 to 31, 2023. Mumbai division's squad has unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and integrity of our railway system has yielded outstanding results.

During this period, the Anti-Hawkers Squad undertook various operations and checks, including EQ/HO authentication in multiple express trains (20103, 12534,11055,11061,12859 &17057). Notable achievements include:-

Ticketless Travel Detection: The team detected 12 cases of Transfer of Ticket, resulting in the recovery of a total of INR 13,510.

Unauthorised Selling of Tickets (SS Quota): 02 cases of unauthorized selling of tickets were identified, leading to a recovery of INR 1,820.

Tout Apprehension: In a joint operation with Sub Inspector RPF/IT Cell Wadibunder, 02 touts were apprehended from Chunabhatti (residence) and Chinchbunder post office. They were handed over to RPF Vadala Road and CSMT under Section 143 of Indian Railway Act, with respective CR numbers 829/2023 and 802/2023.

Hawker Crackdown: The squad charged 12 hawkers under Section 137 and recovered INR 18,500 from them in court proceedings.

Prosecution and Recovery: 2 individuals were prosecuted under Section 162, resulting in the recovery of INR 2,000 in court.

Fines Imposed: The team charged 07 persons under Sections 147 (fine of INR 500 each) and 155 (a) (fine of INR 1,000 each), resulting in a total fine of INR 10,500.

Penalties and Recovery: A total of 73 individuals were penalised across various RPF offices, leading to the recovery of INR 24,820.

Vendors Handed Over: The squad handed over 05 vendors to RPF/CSMT for selling food inside express trains instead of their respective stalls.

Recce Activities: The squad conducted reconnaissance within city limits to gather information against illegal touting activities and JTBS (Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sevak) activities, in compliance with orders from the competent authority.

The Anti-Hawkers Squad's relentless efforts have demonstrated their dedication to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the railway system. These results showcase the commitment of railway authorities and law enforcement in maintaining the integrity of the rail network and protecting the interests of passengers.
