Ashish Shelar doubts scam in nullah cleaning, says BJP is not satisfied with work

The BJP is 100% not satisfied with the nullah cleaning work and the work is marred in corruption, alleged city BJP president Ashish Shelar after inspecting the nullah cleaning work in Western Suburbs on Wednesday. Shelar also criticised the functioning of the BMC and claimed that the receipts from weighbridge at Mira-Bhayandar are bogus.

Shelar also hit at Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray by saying that yesterday’s inspection by Thackeray was intended to give clean chit to those contractors who were involved in corruption and FIRs were filed against them in this connection. The persons on the posts of responsibility cannot shed their responsibility and the BJP is a security guard for transparency and it would never accept the clean chit, Shelar added.

The city BJP chief, accompanied by party MLAs and corporators, inspected nullah cleaning work in Lelewadi and Krishna nullahs in Marol, Andheri East, Sakinaka, etc. He also visited the Mogra, Oshiwara river and Versova dumping ground. He further alleged that contractors are using the bogus receipts to cheat the BMC. Those contractors showed receipts on being asked about the place of dumping of silt. Some of these receipts were not having the signature of the persons who weigh it and supervisor of this work. The silt removed from nullahs in Mumbai is weighed at Mira-Bhayandar based weighbridge and dumped at Versova dumping ground. Documents in this connection indicate difference and hence it should be carefully dealt with, Shelar pointed out.
