The man against all odds

SHARES

Mumbai - Merely the name of the dungeon streets of Madanpura, Pydhonie, Abdul Rehman Street and Nagpada sent chills down the spine.
These streets have produced underworld dons. Unauthorised work is in continuation on these streets at every 10 m distance. Suddenly, it is sounding more of an establishment of a Masala Bollywood flick, isn't it? In comes the hero, and yes he is very much larger than life much like our reel heroes.
The adjectives are falling short, the nicknames are running short, 'Demolition Man', 'Singham' and what not. He is an ordinary ward officer of BMC, with extraordinary powers, Assistant Commissioner Uday Kumar Shirurkar. He is battling against all those who have set up unauthorised shops in these areas.
For the past 40 years, none of the officers could root away from the hawkers on the street of Nakhuda Mohallah, Shirurkar came and demolished them to the core. With all his might, he is ready to erect all those dilapidated buildings which are possible only through cluster development. Truly said, "when things are tough, the tough get going!"
