After MTNL building fire incident, the government has ordered MTNL and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to carry out a fresh security audit in their respective office buildings. 

On July 22, along with the Mumbai MTNL office building, there were reports of fire incident at BSNL building in Kolkata as well. Moreover, in Delhi, a minor fire incident also took place at MTNL building at Kidwai Bhawan in Delhi. The government has ordered a high-level inquiry into the same. 

While keeping in mind such fire incidents, MTNL and BSNL administration has decided to carry out an audit in their respective buildings. However, in all these incidents, the fire brigade managed to get the situation under control in time while the investigation on the same is underway. 

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Mumbai North-Central constituency, Poonam Mahajan, wrote to Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad requesting to carry out a high-level inquiry to find out the reason for fire break out while informing that the MTNL building in Mumbai didn’t have sufficient fire equipment.

Both the companies have asked for a fire and safety audit of their office buildings in a fixed time frame. In order to do away with the network and affected services, MTNL along with BSNL have deployed their experts.
