The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had decided to appoint a private firm to recruit 341 vacant posts. The recruitment was carried out for the posts of Junior Engineer, Architect, Technician and more. The private firm IBPS advisors had to accept applications and conduct an online written test. Moreover, the agency will further verify the reservation categories and will prepare applicants’ data.

The eligibility criteria of the candidates will be determined only after submission of category wise list. IBPS has also recruited employees for the BMC in the past. The agency was going to charge a fee of ₹350 from candidate belonging to SC/ST and for candidates from the open category ₹600. BMC had decided to offer recruitment work to IBPS without issuing tender while citing that their experience with the company had been good.

However, the members of the BMC's Standing Committee has expressed their discontent on the same. Therefore, the committee has demanded an extension of 15 days and stated that the candidates should apply online again.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) group leader Rakhi Jadhav raised the question on the proposal being presented to the committee now for approval. She raised her question stating that why was the proposal to appoint the private firm (IBPS) presented for approval before the committee after completing the online and other process related to recruitment. This is an insult of the committee.
