The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Tree Authority Department will make the replicas of the iconic structures of Mumbai at the Veermata Jijabai Udyan in its annual garden exhibition between January 31 and February 2.

The civic body will present replicas of heritage structures like the Gateway of India, Old Lady’s Shoe, India's first tram, Textile mills and chimneys, the camera. The citizens will soon get to experience different aspects of the city at the Rani Baug in the 'Annual Garden Exhibition', starting January 31.

This is the 25th year running for the exhibition and so BMC came up with this idea of making the replicas of Gateway of India, Old Lady's Shoe, etc. using flowers and leaves. Every year, the Tree Authority brings a unique concept for the exhibition and for the silver jubilee, the department has decided to go ahead with the old iconic identities of the city.

To attract youngsters, BMC will carve out various selfie points out of leaves and flowers, which will be the highlight of the exhibition. Alongside, the exhibition will also showcase a variety of fruit trees and flower trees, seasonal flowers, herbs, and attractive bonsai which have been grown in the pots.

Meanwhile, rare indigenous species of trees such as Krishnavada, which are extremely rare in Mumbai, will be put on the show to attract the attention of the visitors. Last year, the exhibition was based on the concept of 'Musical Instruments' and the replicas of musical instruments such as clarinet, flute, guitar, tabla, harp and harmonium were put on display.
