The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday night, August 3, announced revised COVID-19 guidelines for the city in a phased manner.

This comes soon after the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government announced relaxations in COVID-19 curbs in 25 districts showing a low positivity rate of the infection. Moreover, it extended the existing business timings of shops and allowing shopping malls to operate in these districts.

In its ‘Break the Chain’ initiative, the civic body has allowed the reopening of certain regular activities based on the positivity rate of coronavirus cases in a particular area to kick-start the economy.

The relaxations came into effect from Tuesday morning, August 3.

However, the state government has not taken any decision on allowing common people to travel by suburban trains in Mumbai.

Here’s the list of things allowed in the city:

  • All essential and non-essential shops to stay open till 10: 00 pm
  • Medical and chemist shops will function 24X7
  • Dining in restaurants is allowed till 4:00 pm. However, restaurants and hotels will be open for home delivery
  • All indoor and outdoor games are allowed on all days of the week, except the swimming pool and other games where social distancing is not possible.
  • Shooting for films, serials, etc. has also been permitted.

Besides, it is pertinent to note that except for the above relaxations, all other restrictions have to be followed as per the previous order, BMC said in the notification.
