BMC cancels Mulund Gymkhana lease; takes over playground

SHARES

A playground of 5000 sq meters which was allegedly being misused by the Mulund Gymkhana will be thrown open for aam public.

BMC officials allege that Mulund Gymkhana authorities were misusing the playground by hosting parties and concerts and people were not able to use it.

There were many noted personalities who were on the board of gymkhana but they never took the permission of civic officials. Finally, the BMC took the action and took the charge of gymkhana in their hands.

“BMC had given this 5000 sq meters playground on lease in 2005. In 2007, we applied for renovation but HC had put stay on the matter stating that lease will be power till new policy is formed. But ward officer is forcibly breaking the lease for his personal reasons. It is a lie that we used this ground for weddings and parties. They don’t have any proof. If they don’t stop, then we will go to SC. BMC did not give us time also to react. We condemn BMC’s move,” said Chetan Salvi, president, Mulund Gymkhana.
