Despite repeated instructions, workers at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have not submitted their family details to the establishment department. Over a span of three years, only 15,865 workers have submitted their family details to the civic body and only that has been updated in their system. With only two days are left and only 15 per cent of total BMC have submitted their family details, the civic body has given one last chance to the BMC workers to submit their family details, failing which they will not receive the pension and education allowance benefits.

However, it was further revealed that the BMC’s establishment department failed to update the details of some employees which they had received from the workers initially.

The civic body had issued a letter first on July 21, 2013, asking the employees for the family details and it was expected to be completed by August 2013. However, observing a lack of response, the corporation's HRD issued another letter in January 2015. Despite submitting the details, the establishment department has failed to update the system with some employee details, due to which many workers may miss out on their pension and insurance benefits.

Meanwhile, BMC’s human resource department has issued a letter which states that the civic body workers should submit their family details until May 31, 2018. The workers who fail to submit their family details, will not receive insurance plan, educational allowance and pension, said deputy municipal commissioner (general administration), Sudhir Naik.

The employees had to submit their name, spouse’s name, address, children’s names, date of birth, sex, and other details. The HRD has cleared that it would not extend the deadline and by May 31, 2018, BMC workers have to submit their family details.
